I met Galena Pirinska and Ivan Pirinski in Varna, Bulgaria last year. We had dinner together with my wife. But even before I met them I knew a lot of inspiring details about what they do. I was impressed, to say the least. Today you also get to meet this charming young couple from Bulgaria that runs a small family business. Their goals? Be happy and inspire other people.

Introduce yourselves to the readers

G: Hello, my name is Galena. A 28-year-old girl, who is pursuing happiness every day. I am a graduated lawyer but my soul is a very creative and carefree one.

I: Hello, I am Ivan also 28 years old. I am from Varna, Bulgaria graduated high school there and went on to study law in Sofia.

We met in high school and fell in love with each other in the second year. Since then we have been together for about 13 years and got married in 2019. Together we created a positivity journal called Добавка щастие and a kid’s diary Добавка детство.

You both studied law but now you are making your business ideas come true. Tell me how that came to be.

From a young age, both of us had some vague ideas of how we wanted to start our own company or business, however, by the age of 18 these ideas were still vague and we decided to study law. Because the law is very abstract and difficult to study, you must learn a lot about many other subjects, such as economics, business, and even art.

We used the time in university to broaden our horizons as much as possible, for example, we went on summer university programs in Spain and Erasmus in Portugal, which made us see our path as not as vague anymore. After graduation the dots started to connect easily for us, we felt no joy in practicing law and decided to focus only on our business ideas.

Where do you find inspiration to tackle the daily challenges and overcome the big obstacles?

For our project inspiration is one of the most important things. Luckily for us, we manage to be inspired by beautiful everyday things, like a nice view, pleasant books, some funny cat or dog, and of course people’s smiles and positive messages. As for the big obstacles, we try to reduce them to more small ones and make a 5-step plan for how to deal with them, with a deadline of course. What helps more is that we are both very calm and positive people and support each other very much.

Do you find special the fact that you are not just partners in life but also partners in business? What benefits does that give you?

From the outside, it seems quite special and rare for couples to develop their small business together. But for us, it comes naturally because we have very similar ideas and general views of business and life itself. In our opinion, the close connection between us and our deep understanding of each other helps a lot in our business. For example, we are saving a lot of time, because there is no need for extensive explanation, also because we know each other strengths and weaknesses, we can easily separate the tasks between us in an effective way.

The fear of failure is the thing that stops most people from achieving their dreams. How did you overcome it and what advice can you give to others who are still struggling with this?

We have talked about this a few times. In our case, we made the decision to start while accepting the possibility of failure. It’s all about the mindset, we try to think that failure is not something bad, on the contrary, we want to see it as a learning opportunity. Maybe it is easier for us?

As a couple, we can make each other braver and we don’t need additional support from family and friends, etc. Also, we have twice the will and brainpower. Our advice for people that fear failure is to try to make small steps and take small risks, which they are comfortable doing. Fortune favors the brave.

It is simple, on the one hand, if you do something you may fail, however, there is the possibility of success, on the other hand, if you do nothing there is no chance of success.

What inspiring message you can share with the people that read this text and are still hesitant to start doing the things they love?

Firstly, you have to love yourself, from there you will become more confident in your ability to chase the dreams that you have. The best time to start was 5 years ago, the second best is now. Time is the most valuable asset in the world, you have to use it to be happy. We would like to end this interview with a quote from our favorite movie “LA LA Land”:
